Laura Linney was one of the greatest American actors of recent times. Her strong and vulnerable roles have made her a household famous. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, Linney was raised as an all-only child with a single mother who was a nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad Linney discovered a love for the theatre. She eventually studied acting first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. The actress began her Broadway career shortly after graduating after which she made her TV debut in the next year. In the years since, she's appeared in numerous TV productions, films as well as stage productions. There have been numerous awards during her professional career. They include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. While she has received numerous awards over the years, theater is always her main passion.
